Vidor Pirate seniors Marcus McCord and Grant McWherter signed on the dotted line to move up to the next level in their football careers in a signing ceremony held Pirate Gym Thursday well attended by family members, the public and many Vidor athletes and teammates.

Stephenson, Richards headed to state meet

After a rousing sendoff at Vidor High School, Vidor athletes Raegan Stephenson and Blake Richards are off the Austin for the State Track Meet and will compete Thursday. Stephenson will compete in the Girls High Jump at 9 a.m. and Richards in the boys 300m hurdles at 7:10 p.m. Good luck to both!

A wooden time capsule created by the Texas State Parks Exhibit Shop from pecan trees harvested at Mother Neff State Park, widely accepted as the first Texas State Park opened to the public.

Dove Mortality Occurring Across Texas due to Trichomoniasis

AUSTIN –The National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) has confirmed several doves collected across Texas, including the Trans Pecos and Rolling Plains, tested positive for Trichomoniasis. Trichomoniasis is an infectious disease affecting birds caused by a protozoan (single-celled) parasite, Trichomonas gallinae.

Lazaro Lugo qualifies for Regional Track Meet in Long Jump

Vidor High School’s Lazaro Lugo was inadvertently left out of an article about Vidor Pirate athletes qualifying for the April 19-20 4A Region 3 Track Meet held in Bullard. Lugo placed 4th in the Long Jump at the Area Track Meet in West Orange with a jump of 19’ 6” to qualify for Regionals. We regret the oversight.

11 Pirates named to 17-4A All-District Soccer Team

Eleven Pirates were named to the 17-4A All-District Soccer Team as selected by the coache s. Mario Algora-Roy was selected as District co-MVP, Rui Correia was named midfield Player of the Year, and Goalie of the Year honors went to Leo Schafer.
